Pre and Post-Surgical Care

Safe.  Effective.  Painless.

Reduce Pain and Inflammation Before Surgery.

Avoid or Postpone Surgery. Speed Healing.

Before Surgery

Anticipation, nerves, anxiety, and stress before surgery are not only mentally challenging, but also weaken your immune system, disrupt your digestive system, and can increase pain. Acupuncture resets your body, greatly lowering cortisol levels, which allows the body and mind to relax; this helps decrease inflammation before, during, and after the procedure.

A strong immune system prior to surgery ensures that your procedure will not be delayed. Acupuncture strengthens your body’s resistance to the higher risk of infection in the hospital setting and inspires it to heal faster.

After Surgery

Less pain speaks for itself! It allows you to return home and feel better faster. Acupuncture care also addresses any lingering side effects from anesthesia and painkillers, such as nausea, vomiting, constipation, and itching.

The side effects from opioid pain killers range from constipation, nausea, and itching, all the way to serious addiction. Acupuncture's ability to reduce pain, inflammation, and swelling naturally means fewer painkillers, diminishing the possibility of addiction.

Anesthesia and pain medication can quickly throw your digestive system off track and disrupt your sleep. Acupuncture regulates your entire system, optimizing all bodily functions so that you can feel your best throughout recovery.

Depending on the type of surgery, there may be days, weeks, or months of recovery expected. Acupuncture helps to increase strength, range of motion, and flexibility so that you can progress faster and more easily in your physical therapy.

Acupuncture speeds the healing process by promoting circulation and decreasing inflammation. Once your surgical wound heals, we can use scar therapy to reduce the discomfort and the appearance of scars.

The Process

Meet us prior to surgery, get all of your questions answered, and determine the best course of action to get you back to your life as quickly as possible.

Once you decide to work with us, we will schedule an intake appointment. It’s a 90-minute appointment where we do an in-depth assessment of your symptoms and medical history, and review the treatment plan which ensures optimal results for you. This will also be your first pre-operative treatment where we will focus on decreasing pain and relieving anxiety.

Depending on the nature of the surgery and post-operative mobility, we offer one post-operative treatment in your home, and then follow up in our office.

Transitional Care: As your body stabilizes we reduce the frequency of treatments until you no longer need regular treatment.
