Introduction to Adrenal Fatigue

Updated: Jul 18, 2018

Stressed out, exhausted, and overwhelmed?

On a daily basis people come to me struggling with the symptoms of adrenal fatigue. People who see their MD are told that everything is fine, that the numbers look good (there’s no reason to feel bad). In some cases a doctor will tell my patient that it’s all in their head⏤offering prescriptions or antidepressants. This treatment leaves my patients frustrated and doubting themselves. Often they just accept feeling exhausted. They accept their inability to focus. They accept the overwhelmed feeling as the new normal, or as “just part of growing older.”

I’m here to tell you it is NOT in your head. Your symptoms are real, they dramatically affect your quality of life, AND there is a way out.

In fact, I’m so passionate about helping you find your way out that I decided to do a series of articles explaining what adrenal fatigue is, how it affects our bodies and our lives and how we can tap into our body’s innate ability heal, effectively treating and eliminating this debilitating condition.

What is Adrenal Fatigue?

In order to understand adrenal fatigue we need to know what the adrenal glands are and what they do for our bodies. I will explain more in depth about these powerful little glands through this series, but for now a basic introduction: In a nutshell, the adrenal glands, located at the top of each kidney, produce hormones that help the body react to stressors like a major illness or injury or even everyday life stress. They control blood sugar, burn protein and fat, and regulate blood pressure. When the body and mind are under stress for a prolonged period of time these glands become taxed and struggle to carry out their intended functions. Without going deep into the cascade of hormone and neurotransmitter changes, know that this sub optimal performance leaves you dragging through your days.

Most Common Symptoms of Adrenal fatigue:

Deep fatigue/Exhaustion

Difficulty getting up in the morning (even with adequate sleep)

Overwhelmed by everything, unable to handle small stressors let alone bigger ones

Brain Fog, difficulty concentrating

Wired at night - insomnia

Can you relate to these symptoms? Are you ready to recover your quality of life? Ready to return to true, lasting energy, mental focus, peace of mind and connection to yourself and others?
